Day 5 (Mia Franks) - Finishing up the boxes and Starting on the DM screen

Today was a day full of 'small-last-things-that-take-really-long'. We started the day by taking the straps and clamps off our boxes. in my opinion mine turned out great! the glass fit, the back fit (after being tampered with) and it will make a great gift for my mother! after we got the clamps off I took the sheet that covers the glass off. it took a while and some of the pieces got stuck and needed to use a x-acto knife to get the tiny pieces out. Then I had to spend the rest ish of the morning sanding the frame to make it smooth and pretty. I did smooth one corner a lot more than the others because it had a pretty big lift between the two, and when it was smooth it had a little dip in it when you run your fingers over it. though you can't really see it, you can feel it.

The little time I had before lunch we spent cutting the very large (almost planks) boards of plywood into smaller strips. the job took 3 or 4 people to cut the plywood into strips. one person to push it into the saw, one the catch and one to make it strait with the fence. it was a strange thing but it was nice after the first go or two. I think I like being the fence pusher the best, it was fun and somewhat easy, but what you have to do is very hard. Overall, I liked that job best and the feeling of teamwork felt great too. for each of us to care about another's piece of wood.

while working today and eating lunch I listened to the book, Hollow City, the second novel of Miss Penegrine's peculiar children. It's the second book in the series and I am mainly reading it for my cousin, it's her favorite series and I felt like I should read it to her. truthfully its very much out of where I would normally read, and its definitely not one of my favorite books, but it is still really good.

after lunch we came back to class. Mr. Grisbee went out during lunch and got us some of the supplies we need for our personal projects. He got the hinges I wanted! which I am super happy about, because they are the perfect, color, hinge size, and screw size!

A little bit later we started to finish the boxes, which is when we rub the finish oil on the wooden parts of the boxes. mine didn't take that long to finish cause it is a picture frame.

then later, the boards we cut before lunch I cut mine to size for my DM screen, they seem to be similar size to what I need, but I am planning on really working on them more on Monday because we don't have that much time left. and that is all we did today.
